At the 50-year-plus reunion for the Class of 1970 of Dorsey High School, Joyce Rey, a Coldwell Banker Global Luxury Property Specialist affiliated with the Beverly Hills office of Coldwell Banker Realty and former high school teacher, was honored with a commendation from the County of Los Angeles for her exceptional teaching as a business administration instructor between 1965 and 1969 at Dorsey High School. The class reunion was held at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Westside.
“When I received the announcement regarding this award it brought me to tears,” said Rey. “I loved my early career as a teacher and was extremely honored by the recollections of my former students.”
The commendation was presented by Rey’s former student, Chef Eric Warren, on behalf of Holly J. Mitchell, Los Angeles County Supervisor for the Second District, in recognition of Rey’s dedicated service to the affairs of the community and for the civic pride demonstrated by numerous contributions she made for the benefit of all the residents of Los Angeles County.
“As part of the Class of 1970, I was blessed to have Joyce Rey as an instructor,” said Warren. “I will never forget and will always cherish learning about business. Our field trip to the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange hosted by her helped me to realize that there was a world of excitement and challenges awaiting me after graduation.”
A real estate powerhouse, Rey was inducted into the Inman Golden I Hall of Fame and was just designated once again as one of “The Los Angeles 500 Most Influential People” by the Los Angeles Business Journal, named the “First Lady of Luxury Real Estate” by the Chinese media, dubbed “The Billionaire’s Broker” by ELLE and called the “Grand Dame of Real Estate” by the Los Angeles Times. Passionate about helping others, she serves as Co-Chair for the Southern California Executive Board for UNICEF USA and serves on the Coldwell Banker Community Foundation Board. She is actively involved in the Women Presidents’ Organization and has long been an invited member of the prestigious Trusteeship of the International Women’s Forum.
