Originally from Canada, Laurie Briggs lived in Victoria, British Columbia for 20 years and later in St. Albert, a suburb of Edmonton in Alberta. Tim Briggs grew up in both Vancouver, British Columbia and Edmonton and later attended college in Edmonton and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Both first came to the desert as visitors, but the casual lifestyle, sunshine and friends lured them here to live as full-time residents.
