Mike Shenkman, an agent affiliated with the San Diego Metro / Mission Valley office of Coldwell Banker Realty, was named 2022 Realtor of the Year by the San Diego Association of REALTORS®. A Southern California native, Shenkman’s career has spanned over two decades and has included training, development and managing broker roles within some of the most prominent real estate companies throughout Southern California.

In addition to his work in sales and management, he has experience in affordable housing, community development, property management, redevelopment and mortgage finance. He is regularly a consultant for land use planning and has served as an expert witness in trials regarding real estate disputes. He holds bachelor’s degrees in both sociology as well as urban studies and planning with Cum Laude High Distinction Honors from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He also holds master's degrees in planning (MPL) and public administration (MPA) as well as a graduate certification in political management from the University of Southern California. Due to his vast education, he was appointed as a lecturer for the Urban Studies and Planning Department of UCSD. Furthermore, he currently holds the following designations: accredited buyer’s representation (ABR), short sale and foreclosure resource (SFR®), property management certification (PMC) and military relocation professional (MRP).
Active in his community, he serves as an instructor for agents and as a member of committees such as government affairs as well as ethics and grievance for SDAR. Recently, he was appointed as the chair of the REALTOR Political Action Committee (RPAC) for SDAR and has worked on real estate legislative policy for the City and County of San Diego, and most recently advised on COVID policies for various municipalities throughout the State of California. In 2016, he was the campaign manager for Melinda Vasquez in Assembly District 77.
